Before joining I generally got Cs, worst case would be a fail and if I was lucky maybe I’d get a B4 :)
There was sufficient practice provided for each chapter taught, in terms of both quantity and range of difficulty. For school exams and Os Mr Zhang would highlight certain question types that were commonly tested.
He would also emphasise on keywords to look out for so that students do not fall for the traps hidden in the question and lose marks carelessly.
There was a very systematic way of teaching that allowed me to easily understand the rationale behind each step taken to solve every question. Which therefore allowed me to apply my knowledge accurately.
I joined at the start of sec 2 and got my first A1 at MYEs.
Since then both my E and A math scores became pretty consistent throughout the rest of my secondary school life, never going below an A2 and I scored A1 in O levels for both subjects.

With complex concepts such as binomial theorem and logarithmic functions, in addition to the fact that my school had only one teacher to teach both math concurrently, I simply could not keep up with the insanely fast pace at which my teacher was going at.
As a result, my A-Math score continued to dwindle to a B4 in my Secondary 4 mid-years, which was the lowest score I have ever obtained for A-Math ever.
Mr. Zhang devised a unique strategy in which involved finding keywords to devise a suitable fixed strategy for question types, one that was quite simple to understand and carry out for me.
He even develops his own worksheets in which he goes through the different bite-sized parts of each chapter so that it would be easy for us to absorb the content taught.
And questions are given to increase our exposure to many question types, which in turn increases our exam readiness.
At times when schools just teach you the formula and how to use it, Mr. Zhang delves deeper into what the formula represents and the multiple ways of applying it to different question types, ensuring that whatever the question comes out during the exams, we will always be ready for it.
He is also extremely approachable and friendly and can answer any queries round the clock, which was extremely helpful for me.
After I joined Good School, I ended up achieving a stellar grade of A1 for my A-Math within just a few months for my O Levels, and I really have Mr. Zhang to thank for helping me to attain this 4-grade jump.

One issue that I faced was that in class, whenever my teacher taught a new topic, I would always be falling behind while my friends are always understanding very quickly. I would always ask my friends for help, because they understood it way better, and I couldn’t really understand why I was falling behind.
So I decided to join a tuition centre to help me.
For Math, there were also certain techniques applied during exams, it allowed me to get higher grades, and the things taught here were actually rather simple, and it can be easily applied as long as you play your part in doing your homework.
I think doing so can really help you to improve your grades a lot. Before I joined Good School Kovan my Math grade was a C6. Ever since I joined this centre, I’ve been getting A1 all the way.

My tutor is a pretty interesting teacher to learn under. He’s approachable and pretty humorous, especially with his anecdotes about his life.
I really like how he manages to explain concepts that I couldn’t understand in class in relatively simple terms.
For example, for the longest time I have thought mensuration to be the most painful topic in the world, but under his teaching he basically busted that myth. Apparently it’s just formulas and knowing the strategy, nothing more.
I’m glad to have been taught by Mr Zhang.
I remember that for some topics, like graphs, I couldn’t fully understand what I was learning and at that moment, just absorbed the information before I realized I didn’t understand much later. I scored a D7 for my SA2.
A lot more time is dedicated to exploring a single topic and understanding it, instead of rushing through like in school. That probably gave me enough time to understand and make use of my info.
Mr Zhang manages to make it clear that every question can be solved by following systematic steps - identifying the topic through the keywords, knowing the strategy and executing the plan.
Scored A2 for O level E Math, so a 5-grade improvement from secondary. I’d say it’s worth it if one is willing to put in the effort - the lessons are easily absorbable if they’re paying attention and taking down notes for themselves.
